The fleet includes a mix of Olympus 13, Olympus 21, and Olympus 22 Twin Pack bodies, featuring electric bin lifts to support efficient collection for approximately 85,500 households. The vehicles are designed to improve recycling rates, reduce carbon emissions, and maintain cleaner streets and public spaces, supporting the council’s sustainability goals and its 65% recycling target by 2030.

As part of the initiative, SUEZ and Dennis Eagle will launch the ‘Dennis to the Rescue’ mobile classroom programme in local schools, promoting awareness of sustainability and responsible waste management.

The partnership builds on Dennis Eagle’s long-standing relationship with SUEZ, ensuring the new fleet meets the operational demands of Southend-on-Sea’s busy seafront, residential areas, and growing community, helping deliver a cleaner, greener city for residents and visitors alike.

Penny Fletcher, Communications Manager for SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, commented: ‘Sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do at SUEZ. That’s why our people are so passionate about tackling the volume of waste generated at Southend-on-Sea.’

She added: ‘I’ve worked with Dennis Eagle for many years, and I know their technology is ideal for Southend’s diverse needs.’

‘Our long history of working with SUEZ extends over almost 30 years, but it’s really over the past four years or so that this has developed even more substantially,’ said Ben Hoadley, General Manager, Dennis Eagle.

‘Having established an exceptional relationship with SUEZ across Milton Keynes, Mid-Kent, Maldon and beyond in recent years, this has only helped sow the seed for success in Southend.’
