As part of the move to net zero, the local authority plans to roll-out 164 new electric vehicle (EV) charge points and make their fleet emissions free by 2029.

There are also plans to widen the scope of the city’s Low Emission Zone from June next year to include all vehicles driving into the city centre.

A council spokeswoman said: ‘Glasgow has made no secret of our commitment to be net zero of carbon by 2030 and we have already made significant headway in providing both a public and fleet EV charging infrastructure across the city.’

She continued: ‘Funding packages from a number of stakeholders are in place and the expectation is that Glasgow will benefit from the national funding sources. This will enable us to take forward our EV charging agenda which will also include our aim to ensure the council’s 2,000 fleet should be emissions free by the end of 2029.’
