Cheshire East Council has acquired new electric fleet vehicles to accelerate its decarbonisation programme.

To meet their 2030 carbon neutrality goals, the local authority is now operating 22 electric fleet vehicles to deliver council services.
The fleet is comprised of six community enforcement vans, as well as tippers that will assist the council’s tree surgeons, street cleaning staff, and the waste and recycling teams.
Through their shift to electric vehicles, the council is expected to save 130 tonnes of CO2 annually, a figure which is expected to increase once their plans to convert to electric grounds maintenance vehicles become effective.
Cllr Heather Seddon, vice-chair of Cheshire East Council’s environment and communities committee, said: ‘This is a very important step in the council’s journey towards its net zero target.
‘These vehicles will reduce the negative impacts on air quality and I’m sure will be welcomed by our residents, as they are significantly quieter when working around our towns, parks and residential areas.’
