Six new vehicles are to be added to Hartlepool Borough Council’s fleet, enhancing the local authority’s ‘essential’ transport services.

The Mellor Mercedes-Benz Strata HF vehicles will help boost the local transport system by catering to adults, schools and the community.
In a news release, Mellor confirmed that the vehicles are designed to meet the council’s ‘diverse transport needs’, with the capacity to carry 16 passengers or seven wheelchairs.
The vehicles are fitted with underfloor tail lifts, climate control, chassis with automatic transmission, detachable seats, as well as single passenger entrances ‘for improved accessibility’.
The procurement is a development of the council’s continued partnership with Mellor, which argues that the ‘reliability’ and ‘flexibility’ of its transport solutions help fulfil Hartlepool’s ‘varied transport requirements’.
Jordan Stewart, Head of Transport Services at Hartlepool Borough Council, praised the partnership approach: 'We had good service from initial contact with experienced Area Sales Manager advising on portfolio of vehicles available, including arranging the tailift demonstrations. The order was processed quickly and efficiently during pre build meeting. Good communication throughout, and delivery surpassing our expectations.'
