SFS has worked with the council since 2005, supplying and maintaining its fleet and managing the council’s workshop.

The new contract covers the replacement of around 75 vehicles, including 13 refuse collection trucks, with the first deliveries scheduled for June 2027. Vehicles will support a range of services, from waste and recycling to street cleansing and grounds maintenance.

Cllr Liz Frost, Chair of Environment & Safe Communities Committee, praised SFS for providing 'excellent value for money' and reliable service.

SFS Managing Director Bob Sweetland welcomed the renewal, describing it as a 'significant milestone' and highlighting the company’s commitment to helping local authorities future-proof their fleets.

The fleet will continue to support the council’s Simply Weekly Recycling service, introduced in 2017 to boost local recycling rates.
