Chichester District Council has announced plans to invest £2.8 million to replace its aging fleet of vehicles used by the contract services team.

The fleet, which currently comprises 76 vehicles supporting waste collection, street cleaning, workshops, and parks and gardens maintenance, includes 40 refuse collection vehicles and road sweepers.
The council’s cabinet recommended allocating £2,823,642 from the Asset Replacement Programme during its meeting on 7 October, with a final decision expected from the full council in November.
The new vehicles will run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a sustainable alternative to diesel that significantly reduces carbon emissions.
