Bromsgrove District Council has unveiled two new hi-tech street sweeping machines to help keep the district’s roads, pavements, and public spaces cleaner, greener, and safer.
The modern sweepers are quieter, more fuel-efficient, and designed to tackle litter, debris, and pollutants more effectively, according to the council. Their advanced filtration systems reduce air pollution and prevent waste from entering local waterways.
Capable of sweeping three to six miles of road per hour, the machines also feature upgraded brushes that can strim weeds while they clean, improving efficiency and results.
The addition expands the council’s sweeping fleet from five to six vehicles — three large sweepers and three compact mini cleaners for hard-to-reach areas.
Together, they help cleansing teams cover Bromsgrove’s 428 miles of streets up to twice a year while tackling litter hotspots, clearing fly-tips, emptying bins, and maintaining public land across the district.
Cllr Peter Whittaker, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: ‘Cleaner streets mean a better, safer quality of life for everyone. These new sweepers will help us deliver a greener, more reliable service more efficiently.’
