The Scottish authority is gradually replacing its fleet with new vehicles of Euro 6 emission standards, which it said would help reduce its carbon footprint.
However, in relation to more environmentally friendly options, the council only said it would ‘continue to explore alternative fuelled models including electric, hydrogen and hydrotreated vegetable oil fuelled vehicles’.
The total contract value for the three RCVs is £670,000 excluding VAT. They will be provided within 38 weeks from Farid Hillend Engineering Limited following a procurement exercise that saw two suppliers submit bids.
