Teignbridge District Council received 21 new Romaquip Kerbsort recycling vehicles from its fleet partner, Specialist Fleet Services Ltd.
The delivery is part of a 56-vehicle replacement programme which started in April.
More than 300 entries were received to name the new vehicles, with winners including Hector the Collector, Recyclesaurus Rex, Teign-Age Dirtbag and Binbo Baggins.
The names were allocated to lorries on routes near where winners lived, so they could see the vehicle they named out and about.
Teignbridge’s executive member for recycling, household waste and environmental health, Peter Williams, said: ‘There were so many fun and creative names from children and adults across Teignbridge – it was hard for the panel to decide.
‘We’re very pleased with the names chosen as they give the new fleet a distinct identity, and we can’t wait to see them around Teignbridge providing their services.’
