The resource management firm has been providing waste services for the London borough council for more than 15 years.

Kingston will directly manage the new contract, replacing an existing arrangement that sees the South London Waste Partnership oversee services.

A new street cleansing fleet will be delivered through the agreement, comprised of electric vehicles and those fuelled by hydrotreated vegetable oil.

Council leader Andreas Kirsch said: ‘Following a robust selection process, we have secured the continuation of a well-run service that delivers customer satisfaction, strong recycling rates and will continue to improve environmental performance.

‘We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Veolia to make our waste and recycling services even better and more sustainable.’

The new contract will start next April.
