The streetscene vans will be visible throughout the area over the coming months. The team responsible for driving the vans have undertaken suicide prevention training and are happy to talk to anyone as they go about their duties.

Paul Kelly, deputy leader of the council, explained: ‘The newly wrapped vans are a great way to get the message about suicide awareness into the heart of our communities. The vans are very bright, very visible and carry helpline support numbers for those who may be struggling.

‘The emotional impact on families and friends bereaved by suicide is devastating and can have awful long-lasting effect on those left behind. If you’re worried about someone, a friend or a family member, asking them directly about their feelings can help to save their life.’

The vehicles will feature the helpline numbers for Breathing Space, Samaritans and Hopeline UK which is aimed specifically at younger people needing support.
