With 23,000 tonnes of salt and a fleet of 60 gritters, the council has assured residents it is ready to tackle icy roads head-on.

Last winter, 57 primary salting runs covered the county, using over 11,500 tonnes of salt and achieving a 99% on-time completion rate.

The council says this year the gritting routes have been optimized, extra snow routes are supported by local farmers, and more than 3,000 salt bins have been checked and filled.

Peter Osborne, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: ‘Our winter service is about more than just gritting roads – it’s a carefully planned operation that helps keep Kent moving safely in all weathers.

‘The dedication of our teams, the investment in equipment and the collaboration with partners all play a vital role in delivering this essential service.’
