Nottingham City Council has outlined plans for a £420,000 one-year vehicle hire contract to maintain 'timely and uninterrupted' service delivery while its fleet renewal programme is completed.
The proposal recommends awarding the contract to Enterprise Rent-A-Car UK Limited via the Crown Commercial Service’s Public Sector Vehicle Hire Solutions framework.
Under the arrangement, £360,000 would be allocated to Nottingham Housing Services, which currently operates around 80 vans on long-term hire due to the ageing condition of its existing vehicles. A further £40,000 would support Adult Social Care and other council departments, with an additional £20,000 set aside as a contingency for urgent or short-term hires.
The council confirmed that the transition to a new fleet is expected to begin between November and December 2025, ensuring essential services continue to operate effectively during the interim period.
