Hampshire County Council has revealed changes to be made to its winter road gritting strategy.

The council’s priority network is being re-evaluated to ensure the new system is consistent with people’s current travel methods.
Since reviewing its Priority One Network of regularly gritted roads, the local authority has revealed that a new Priority Two Community Route Network has been established, with some routes being moved to the second category, according to Yahoo News.
A council spokesperson said: ‘The new Priority Two Community Route Network replaces the previously separate Priority Two and Community Route networks with a single, unified system.
‘The new arrangements follow a review of gritting routes to apply national guidance and best practice consistently.’
A Combined Community Route Network that integrates residential, bus and school routes is also in the process of being created.
Cllr Nick Adams-King, leader of Hampshire County Council, said: ‘This is about making sure our winter operations are both efficient and effective, while ensuring Hampshire’s roads remain safe.’
