Vehicle hire and waste services specialists, Go Plant, has been bought by Sussex-based Sweeptech Environmental Services.

Go Plant’s latest accounts show the business had a turnover of £44.8m for the year to June 30 2022 with an operating loss of over £3.3m. The company employed over 400 staff across its depots.

Mike Denny and Jonny Marston of Alvarez & Marsal were appointed as joint administrators and subsequently completed the sale of several depots to Sweeptech, securing 116 jobs.

Martin Smith, CEO of Sweeptech, said the deal marks ‘a significant milestone in our journey towards becoming a truly national waste management company.’

He continued: ‘This strategic move not only enhances our ability to serve our customers with excellence but also underscores our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance.’
