Farid UK has supplied refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) to a number of local authorities nationally including Epping Forest and North Devon.Whilst Epping Forest has purchased Farid RCVs for the first time, North Devon returned to Farid because of the vitual trouble free operation over the years. The Council cited: low cost of ownership, optimum vehicle uptime and superb reliability as the main reasons for the repeat business.
Epping Forest District Council offers all its residents a refuse and recycling collection service which includes a weekly kerbside collection of food and garden waste. In addition, all residents receive a fortnightly collection of mixed dry recyclables including paper and cardboard, food tins and drinks cans, plastics, aluminium foil, containers and aerosol containers, alongside a residual waste black bin collection. To help achieve this and deliver a reliable and sustainable service, the Council needed to upgrade its current fleet of RCVs as part of their on-going fleet replacement programme. Following extensive vehicle trials and robust tender evaluation, Epping Forest chose Farid UK to supply the new fleet of recycling and refuse collection vehicles. Another major feature which attracted Epping Forest to the Farid T1SM22 body is that it fits on a shorter 3,900mm wheelbase chassis and has a very short rear overhang, therefore delivering better manoeuvrability characteristics.
Seven Farid T1SM22m3 refuse and recycling collection bodies, complete with Zoeller low level fully automatic split bin lifts, have already been delivered to the authority. Bodies are mounted on Mercedes Econic 6x4 double drive 26t GVW low entry chassis cabs.
North Devon Council offers a comprehensive weekly recycling service across the whole of North Devon, with a fortnightly alternate black and green wheelie bin service. Food waste recycling, garden waste, paper and card recycling, textiles, glass and plastics and tin recycling are all collected from residential properties in addition to a commercial trade refuse and recycling service.
Following their robust tender evaluations, North Devon chose Farid UK to supply two Farid T1H12m3 refuse and recycling collection bodies complete with Terberg automatic split bin lifts, both mounted on DAF FA LF55 day cab chassis cabs plated at 16t GVW. With overall dimension criteria of 2.35m wide and 6.7m long coupled with a high legal payload capacity of approx. 6,600 kg, the Farid T1H12 refuse collection vehicles proved just right for the Council in its need to service hard to access towns and villages. Both vehicles are highly specified and packed with other additional safety systems, including Bi-Line roof harness fall arrest systems, Vision Techniques' banks man radar plus, Vision Techniques front and rear safety light board information displays and Avery Weigh-Tronix under body load weighing cells complete with packer plate cut out at optimum GVW.
