Leicestershire-based waste management provider AE Burgess & Sons has bought a new 26 tonne Mercedes Econic Dennis Olympus refuse collection vehicle from Refuse Vehicle Solutions' RediTruck division.

The new truck is equipped with the latest bin-weighing and vehicle safety technology, including a camera recording system and reverse radar.

Rob Gundle, director at AE Burgess & Sons, said: 'We are growing steadily and adding new jobs to our rounds every week so we needed a new, ultra-reliable vehicle to manage the longer distance collections on the outskirts of Leicestershire and to replace an existing vehicle that had broken down.

'Although RVS are well known for supplying great quality used vehicles, four of which we have purchased on the past few years, they also provide brand new, off-the-shelf, commercial spec refuse trucks. They advise you what you need in terms of lifting kit or weighing equipment and they install it to the vehicle so it's ready to go when it arrives.

'The great thing is that you don't have to wait months for delivery as the vehicles are already in stock. We needed a truck immediately and they delivered it within a month of us placing the order. We even rented a truck from their hire fleet whilst we were waiting for ours to arrive. It's much easier when everything you need is under one roof'

Spencer Law, managing director of Gloucestershire-based RVS, said: 'We introduced RediTruck because we identified a need in the market place for quick turnaround new, ready for work refuse vehicles. Company's like AE Burgess need to be able to respond quickly to new customer demand or to replace old vehicles in their fleet'

AE Burgess & Sons provides a range of services including skip hire, recycling, scrap metal, commercial and hazardous waste management. The company recycles more than 96% of the waste it collects and runs two Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF) in Leicester.
