Versalift UK, the vehicle-mounted platform company, has appointed Derek Murdoch as service manager to oversee all service and aftersales activities.

Mr Murdoch joins the company with over 35 years of service experience, including a significant number at Alimak Hek Group as E.ME.A business segment manager offshore where he managed the aftersales operational portfolio, servicing and maintaining all of its elevators.

He began his career as an area sales manager at Wayne Fueling Systems, moving to SPX Flow in the role of service development manager in 2006 and to Alimak Hek Group in 2007 until 2019. He then spent a short time at Gilgen Door Systems as service director before going self-employed in 2020 as an engineering after-sales consultant offering advice and solutions to engineering after-sales or field service departments.

Mr Murdoch will report to Neil Ashton, product support manager for VUK, taking responsibility for the management of Versalift’s service department and team of field and workshop engineers. The role will also oversee aftersales projects within the service division to identify opportunities for both improving customer service levels and efficiencies.

Speaking about his new role, Mr Murdoch said: ‘I am delighted to be joining the VUK family as service manager. I’ve joined a great team and a premium brand at Versalift and I am confident I can bring my experience to the role and look forward to making a positive impact.’

Mr Ashton added: ‘We are delighted to welcome Derek to the team at what is an exciting time of growth for Versalift UK. With his extensive knowledge, he is the right person to head up our aftersales activities. I am confident he will slot straight into our business, a key contributing factor we were looking for with his appointment. I know he is keen to hit the ground running so wish him well in his new role.’
