IVECO has supplied three ultra-clean gas-powered vans into Veolia as part of the waste management company's new contract with the London Borough of Camden.
The Daily Natural Power vans were selected for their green credentials and will carry specialist equipment for removing graffiti.
Like all IVECO light commercials, the vans feature purpose-built spark ignition engines, which the company says provide power, torque and response similar to diesel-powered vans.
Running on compressed natural gas (CNG) means they produce 12 per cent less NOX emissions, 76 per cent less particulates and up to 95 per cent less CO2 emissions using bio-methane. They also only make around half the noise of their diesel equivalents.
They will refuel from Veolia's new CNG refuelling station situated at its Alperton depot which was built to service all the CNG vehicles in the Camden fleet.
Andrew Hope, fleet development manager at Veolia, said: 'Emissions reduction was a critical factor in Veolia's decision-making for this vehicle so the availability of a cost-effective CNG engine made the Daily our first choice when specifying the panel van.

Powered by a 3.0-litre natural gas engine, the Daily Natural Power 35S14 delivers 136hp and up to 350Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,730rev/min. The engine requires no AdBlue, particulate filter or exhaust gas recirculation and needs no after-treatment system maintenance. With fuel costs around 20 per cent lower than diesel, this helps to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and boost fleet efficiency.
IVECO has more than two decades of experience in the commercial vehicle natural gas market and has sold more than 23,000 gas-powered vans, trucks and buses to-date.
