Shropshire potholes stopped in tracks by Roadmaster vehicles

Shropshire Council is working to repair potholes on rural roads through the use of specialised machinery.

The local authority’s two Roadmaster vehicles are to be deployed over the next few weeks to deliver road maintenance work.

According to the local authority, the spray injection patching technique used by the vehicles is efficient, cost-effective, and long-lasting, as well as creating less disruption than conventional approaches.

David Vasmer, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and environment, said that the local authority’s pothole issues have been exacerbated by the cold and wet weather conditions of late.

However, the Roadmasters deliver a preventative solution that stops the creation of new potholes by sealing cracks and repairing defects.

Cllr Vasmer said: ‘The Roadmasters help us to repair potholes quickly to a high standard, and they therefore make a huge difference to our rural roads.

‘Along with the work of our pothole teams, and our work to surface dress and resurface roads across the county, the Roadmasters will play a big role in our efforts to reduce the backlog of pothole repairs. People can also help us by reporting any potholes that they spot.’
