Council takes delivery of 15 buses to support transport for children

Lancashire County Council has taken delivery of 15 new buses to support the delivery of transport solutions for special needs children and adult social care services.

The Mercedes-Benz Mellor Strata High Floor buses offer 16 fully removable seats or the capacity to accommodate up to six wheelchairs.

Each vehicle is equipped with an inboard tail lift, a single-leaf glider door, heating and air conditioning, a reversing camera and sensors, as well as the Cycle Eye system for added safety.

Ian Wilkin, Transport Services Manager at Lancashire County Council, praised the latest addition to the fleet.

‘The Mellor Strata High Floor vehicles significantly improve productivity through their reliability and efficiency. The ongoing collaboration with Mellor ensures we receive vehicles that meet our exact needs, making a tangible difference in the daily operations of our transport services.’
