Isle of Wight Council reports two fleet vehicle collisions

Two of the Isle of Wight Council’s fleet vehicles have been involved in road accidents since the weekend.

The separate traffic collisions affecting council-owned vehicles took place on Saturday and Tuesday morning, with the emergency services being involved in the management of the incidents.

Saturday’s collision saw an electric Volkswagen Up damaged significantly in a crash with a Ford Kuga. Following the crash, two people were reportedly treated in hospital and the road was shut for over three hours, according to the Isle of Wight Radio.

Tuesday morning’s accident involved a Kia Soul and a Ford Kuga in Newport and resulted in substantial traffic congestion from all directions into the area.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council said: ‘The Isle of Wight Council is aware that on Saturday and Tuesday morning its fleet vehicles were involved in road traffic collisions.

‘The council is cooperating fully with emergency services and has no further comment to make at this time.’
