Denbighshire County Council has announced the addition of a new electric minibus to its Prestatyn fleet.
The green vehicle will be supporting the council’s Prestatyn Fflecsi service, which delivers ‘demand responsive’ transport for members of the community who are taking short trips between the town centre and residential areas.
It will be joining the two existing electric minibuses that operate as part of the council’s fleet, supporting the local authority’s aims of reducing carbon emissions by decreasing its reliance on petrol- and diesel-powered engines.
The eight-seater Ford E Transit minibus has a maximum range of up to 250 miles, as well as being fully accessible and equipped to provide wheelchair access.
Cllr Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: ‘Our fleet service works hard where appropriate to replace fossil fuel driven vehicles with greener alternatives to help lower carbon emissions in the county and also support lower long-term running and maintenance costs.
‘We are pleased to be given the opportunity to provide the vehicle ourselves for Fflecsi Prestatyn, as we do for Ruthin and Denbigh, and help support a greener more modern mode of transport for local residents to use and enjoy.’
