Highways service provider Multevo has become one of the first founding partners of the Highways Mind Health Association (HMHA), a nonprofit community interest company aiming to make positive mental health and psychological safety the norm across the sector.
Just under two thirds of the UK highways workforce is male, and men account for three in four suicides in England, underlining the need for a culture where people can speak openly, according to the announcement.
Multevo, which employs more than 500 people nationwide, has already appointed mental health first aiders, offered free staff counselling and developed an in-house wellbeing app.
Head of marketing Aimee Dewse said the partnership would let the firm learn from others in the sector and share its own experience.
HMHA founder Sam Munslow said the sector could not keep treating stress and burnout as ‘part of the job’.
