Caerphilly CBC celebrates as planning is approved for new recycling depot

Caerphilly Council has confirmed that plans for a new recycling depot have been greenlighted.

In a statement on Friday, the council announced that planning permission has been formally granted for the proposed depot at Dyffryn Business Park.

The ‘state-of-the-art’ facility is being delivered as part of the local authority’s Waste and Recycling Strategy, with the Ystrad Mynach depot serving as a replacement for its current operations depot in Tir-y-berth.

According to the council, the move will enable kerbside recycling materials to be processed locally, contributing to a ‘cleaner, greener and more efficient service’.

To assist the development of the project, the council is carrying out a two-stage procurement process to choose a contractor for the scheme.

Council leader Cllr Jamie Pritchard, said: ‘We are delighted that planning permission has now been granted for this important project. This achievement reflects the significant work undertaken by council officers in partnership with organisations to address technical, environmental and infrastructure requirements.

‘This investment will help transform the way we manage recycling in Caerphilly County Borough, allowing us to process materials locally, and provide a more effective and efficient service for our residents.’
