The arrangement will see NRG Riverside supplying the latest Dennis Eagle Olympus Rear Steer RCVs with Terberg Matec Omnidel bin lifts, 11-tonne Terberg Matec Orus food waste trucks, 16-tonne NTM K-Series, and 16-tonne Hillend Engineering FHE PN15 Split Bodies for Urbaser's Tonbridge and Malling and Tunbridge Wells Borough Councils' waste management contract, while also taking on the entire management of the workshop.
NRG Riverside mobilised the first part of the contract and workshop on 5 June 2023 and has since been recruiting new staff and training existing personnel to ensure it can deliver the highest service levels to its client.
The vehicle rollout started at the beginning of June, only three months after the contract was awarded, and the last deliveries will take place in October.
All trucks supplied will be equipped with the latest Euro VI engine technology to comply with the latest emissions standards. They are also all fitted with a high-tech telematics system, so the contractor can optimise its routes and monitor and manage driver behaviour to reduce environmental impact and fuel consumption, with regular service intervals, underlining Urbaser’s commitment to sustainability.
Urbaser was initially granted the waste collection contract in 2018 and began service in March 2019 for the Borough Councils of Tonbridge and Malling, and Tunbridge Wells. With the injection of new front-line RCVs and food waste vehicles complete with a full maintenance and service contract delivered by NRG Riverside, Urbaser can continue improving its service delivery by reducing vehicle off-road (VOR) and overall maintenance costs while improving vehicle uptime.
Urbaser's UK operations director, Jose Ramon Sanchez Espejo, stated: ‘We have been working with NRG Riverside for over ten years and are delighted to call on them again to deliver forty vehicles for this contract. With effectively three months' notice, NRG Riverside has mobilised this contract and employed all necessary staff.’
The 3,800 sq ft maintenance facility is ideally located at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s premises. It can accommodate up to three heavy goods vehicles, enabling onsite maintenance and repairs and maximising vehicle uptime.
Gary Wilson, Operations Director for the South, NRG Riverside, comments: ‘It is a proud month for us as we mobilise this contract, continuing our relationship with Urbaser. We have experienced an efficient and successful rollout, so a massive thanks to the NRG Riverside and Urbaser mobilisation teams.’
