Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council has agreed to loan its wholly owned services company £15m to replace its vehicles.

Totally Local Company carries out services including refuse collection, highways maintenance and street cleansing on behalf of the local authority.
The firm has around 140 vehicles, 65% of which are coming to the end of their useful life, according to a council report.
Stockport said the loan would enable its environmental services strategy, which is still being created but will include a plan for ‘decarbonising’ the fleet.
The council report says the strategy is likely to recommend a transition to biofuels.
The loan will be fully drawn down by March 2030, reflecting the anticipated time it will take to replace the vehicles.
