Three young brothers from Ipswich who share a passion for bin lorries have been rewarded with a behind-the-scenes visit to a recycling depot after writing to their local waste firm unprompted.
Arthur, nine, Henry, six, and three-year-old Oscar wrote to East Suffolk Services to share their enthusiasm. Touched by the letter – which their mum Laura confirmed the boys wrote entirely by themselves – the firm invited the family to its Ufford depot for a special tour.
The brothers were given a ride in a bin lorry, shown the vehicle’s controls, and each received a high-vis jacket, cap, woolly hat and notepad to take home.
Managing director Cassandra Clements said it had been ‘an absolute pleasure’ to host the family, adding that the boys’ excitement had made it ‘a really special day for everyone involved.’
Their mum said the crew’s friendliness on their rounds had helped fuel the brothers’ long-standing love of bin lorries.
