Shropshire deploys pothole-busting Multihog machines

Shropshire Council is sending out its two specialist Multihog road planer machines to tackle potholes across the county throughout May, with a schedule of eight treatment days already planned.

The Multevo Multihog works by planing off damaged road surface to create a clean, squared-off hole that a following crew can then fill efficiently – a faster and more effective method than traditional hand cutting and breaking.

Each machine is capable of treating up to 9,000 square metres of road per month, reducing the likelihood of potholes returning in the short to medium term and cutting the need for full road closures.

Roads earmarked for treatment this month include stretches of the Shrewsbury Road south of Annscroft, the B4367 near Clungunford, the A458 at Crosshouses, and Fishmore Road in Ludlow, among others.
