North East Lincolnshire Council plans to pilot new pothole-fixing technology to help repair roads across the community.
The move was backed by councillors as part of its highways and transport capital programme for 2026-27, which includes a budget of £17.4m.
From the total sum, roughly £168,000 has been allocated for preventative maintenance technology and innovation trials. In the cabinet report, the council describes the programme area as a means of enhancing its ‘ways of working in respect of pothole prevention and response’.
One of the trials will be the JCB Pothole Pro machine, which was delivered free of charge, with funding provided by the council for the materials and labour involved.
The local authority has said that it is approaching the trial responsibly to optimise value for money and ensure effective outcomes.
