The new Scarab Merlin 62 will replace an ageing sweeper that had become costly to maintain and less reliable.
Following a competitive exercise through the TPPL Framework, the Merlin came out on top for performance, build quality and value for money.
Equipped with a Euro 6 engine, the vehicle is the cleanest internal combustion model available, significantly cutting CO2 emissions compared to older machines.
A council spokesperson said the investment underlines the authority’s commitment to cleaner streets while reducing the environmental impact of essential services.
