Fylde Council digitises waste fleet with new camera and software platform

Fylde Council has begun digitising its waste and cleansing fleet operations by switching to the Fleetclear Connect software platform, enhancing safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance across its vehicle fleet.

The Lancashire council, which covers Lytham St Annes and Kirkham, has used Fleetclear camera systems on its waste, recycling and sweeper vehicles for over a decade.

The upgrade to Fleetclear Connect will digitise operations across a fleet of around 80 vehicles, with the refuse and sweeper fleet of over 20 vehicles being prioritised.

Six vehicles have already made the switch, with eight more due to follow. Vehicles not yet due for replacement will be retrofitted with updated camera systems to ensure a cost-effective transition.

Service Director for Operations Clare Blyth said the cameras had proved invaluable in resolving insurance claims, protecting crews from false accusations and tackling public abuse, adding that staff had found the new system ‘easier to navigate’ with faster footage retrieval.
