Cheshire East Council has announced the upcoming arrival of a mobile household waste recycling centre.
The service will be rolled out on September 5, catering to the following areas: Poynton, Wilmslow, Middlewich, Congleton and Macclesfield. A further location in Audlem is to be included at a later date, the council has revealed.
Approved as part of the local authority’s future household waste recycling centre provision, the scheme aims to ‘bring waste and recycling facilities closer to communities’ – specifically across rural areas that may struggle with accessibility issues.
Appointments will be made available to reserve through the council’s booking system, enabling residents to walk in with their waste after being allocated a slot.
Cllr David Jefferay, Cheshire East Council’s cabinet member for environment, sustainability and waste management, said: ‘The launch of the mobile household waste recycling centre service will provide residents with an additional way to recycle and dispose of household waste closer to where they live.’
He added: ‘The service will make it easier for residents, particularly those in rural communities, to access household waste and recycling facilities while complementing our existing household waste recycling centre network.’
