Plymouth City Council has recently ordered 10 new RCVs from Dennis Eagle, seven of which are rear steer vehicles that will be used within the inner city area. Due to being rear steer, the vehicles have improved mobility, making it easier for operators to access the narrow inner city streets. They also have a greater payload capability, which reduces the amount of journeys the vehicles have to make to be emptied.
Johnston Sweepers seeks to exploit economies of scale within in the UK by looking at combining the three UK manufacturing sites operated by the company into a single site in Dorking, Surrey. The envisaged investment amounts to GBP 11 million in infrastructure and new production technologies.
