The Peugeot e-Expert van can travel more than 150 miles on a single change and will be used by a team of fourteen volunteer drivers to deliver library books across the county.
The local authority said the van will help the team reach about 350 customers every four weeks as part of a free service described by many as a ‘lifeline’.
Warwickshire’s portfolio holder for customer and transformation, Yousef Dahmash, said: ‘We are delighted to unveil this electric-powered van as part of the home library service offer.
He said the van would help ‘support Warwickshire’s local communities whilst demonstrating the service’s ongoing commitments to environmental responsibility’.
The council’s library service is expecting two more electric vehicles in early 2024.
