The new site will feature a secure vehicle area, upgraded administration facilities, and improved working conditions, while ensuring core services such as bin collections and street cleaning continue without disruption.

A key focus is sustainability, with the redeveloped depot designed to support more electric vehicles, helping the council cut emissions and prepare its fleet for the future.

Other improvements include a three-metre acoustic fence to reduce noise for nearby homes, new accessibility features, and a canopy to provide better shelter for staff.

Cllr Helen-Ann Smith, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said the investment would “help us work smarter, reduce our environmental impact, and ultimately improve services.”

The depot will also double as a training hub, offering apprenticeships in vehicle maintenance and engineering.
