Sefton Council has called on local ‘pun masters’ to help name its new fleet of food waste collection vehicles.
The naming competition is open to both school pupils and residents until March 23, with the winners to be announced in May.
Ahead of the introduction of the vehicles in Autumn, the council has urged members of the community to suggest original and creative names that are inspired by food waste or recycling, as well as being family-friendly.
In a statement last month, the council announced its hopes for each vehicle to have ‘its own unique name and personality’, offering examples such as celebrity-themed names (e.g. Kate Binslet), titles based on historical figures (e.g. Ada Lovewaste), or names rooted in puns (e.g. Bin Appetit).
‘Whether you’re a pun master, a recycling champion, or just love a bit of fun, [we] want to hear your ideas’, the statement reads.
