The investment is designed to bring greener and more efficient vehicles to its operational services department.
The latest vehicles, costing neatly £1m, comprise three road sweepers, two gully tankers and five tippers, along with additional equipment for highways repairs.
Cllr Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, climate change and operations, said: ‘We’re making major investment in our fleet which will replace unreliable ageing vehicles and provide a better service to residents.
‘They are also Euro 6 compliant, which will reduce carbon emissions and help us to tackle climate change. The modern equipment will also improve productivity and reduce Hand Arm Vibration (HAVS) exposure.’
