Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) has taken delivery of six new Volvo FE Low Entry Cab (LEC) trucks for their domestic kerbside collection fleet.

They were supplied by municipal contract hire and rental specialists, Translinc in Lincoln via Volvo Dealer, Crossroads Truck and Bus at Rotherham.

Craig Simpson concluded: “We have 12 Volvo's on our gritting fleet and a number in different applications, so we already know that the Volvo is a quality product. I'm pleased to say that our drivers love them too. They say that the Volvo FE is a superior truck and a real step up from the previous vehicles on the fleet.”

The new 23-tonners have been acquired by Translinc, on a contract hire agreement, and they will also be providing the maintenance support.

The vehicles, fitted with a Terberg specialist body for segregated recycled waste, join Rotherham's specialised domestic recycling fleet of over 200 vehicles collecting glass, textiles, paper and tin.
