May Gurney, through its fleet and passenger services division has successfully secured a £3.3m contract with 'Procurement Lincolnshire' to provide three of the County's districts with a comprehensive fleet management service, focusing on the service and maintenance of essential frontline operational vehicles.
May Gurney will initially provide East Lindsey District Council, North Kesteven District Council and South Holland District Council with fleet management, servicing and maintenance for 68 vehicles including refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers and a combination of light commercial and heavy goods vehicles. Service provision is anticipated to increase in line with the Councils' fleet as the contract progresses.
In addition to the full fleet management service, May Gurney will supply East Lindsey District Council with a number of light commercial and heavy goods vehicles under a contract hire and maintenance package.
Pat Nolan, Director of Regional Operations said: 'May Gurney has a longstanding working relationship with both East Lindsey District Council and North Kesteven District Council and as such understands the specific needs of these authorities. We are delighted to be working with South Holland District Council and transferring our knowledge of local authority fleet management to tailor a programme specific to their needs.'
The contracts are for an initial period of up to seven years, with provision for extension up to a further five years.
East Lindsey District Council and North Kesteven District Council will be first to start the partnership beginning in April 2013, with South Holland District Council following in August 2014.
May Gurney will utilise two of its existing workshop facilities to maintain the East Lindsey District Council and North Kesteven District Council's fleets. The partnership with South Holland will result in May Gurney undertaking full management of the Council's workshop. The transfer of this workshop will increase May Gurney's total in-house workshop network to 25 nationally.
