Swarco eVolt, the award-winning Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging business, has reported the success of the Dundee Fully Charged Live event for which it was a major sponsor.

The Fully Charged show, which took place at Dundee's V&A Museum, invited guests to a talk-show style format to discuss the city's journey to electrifying its transport system. Dundee now has more than 750 EVs registered, 112 EV taxis and 102 council-registered EVs.

Swarco eVolt, which first began installing its equipment more than eight years ago, has now installed more than 2,300 of its charging points across Scotland and has completed a number of major council projects across the country including Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The company has also installed the latest version of its rapid charging units for the first and largest purpose-built charging hub in the UK that includes solar power and energy storage, located on Princes Street in Dundee City Centre. The company expects to complete work on a fourth hub in Dundee by the end of July, with another major hub also soon to go live for East Ayrshire Council in Kilmarnock.

Justin Meyer, General Manager of SWARCO eVolt, says he is proud of the company's continued growth in Scotland: ‘Our team in Scotland are doing excellent work and are responsible for driving our success throughout the country.'

Justin also highlights the work of Transport Scotland in driving EV uptake: ‘Transport Scotland continue to push things forward, providing financial support to public and private sector bodies for the further expansion of the charging network.

‘Our growth would also not be possible without EV drivers themselves and it is encouraging to see uptake continuing to increase. We are committed to providing the highest quality products and services across Scotland to ensure continued customer satisfaction with the Swarco eVolt network.'

The company has also continued to grow the Swarco eVolt team with now eight permanent staff members permanently based in Scotland, with plans to hire two more staff before the end of 2019. The team is responsible for sales, project support and maintenance, with all members driving a Swarco eVolt-branded EV.
