Douglas Council expands electric vehicle fleet

The new vehicles will be used across housing maintenance, electrical services and painting teams, replacing older diesel models.

The Isle of Man authority said the investment supports its commitment to reducing its environmental impact and improving efficiency. With the latest additions, eight of the council’s 68 vehicles are now fully electric.

Cllr Falk Horning, Chairman of the Environmental Services Committee, told the BBC the switch to electric vans was a ‘practical, cost-effective way to reduce our carbon footprint when it comes to environmental responsibility.’
