Emergency services were called to the scene on Tuesday following a collision on Higher Warberry Road involving a man in his 20s.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the man was declared dead at the scene and have asked people with dashcam footage or information that might aid the investigation to contact the department.

Leader of Torbay Council, Cllr David Thomas, said: ‘I am deeply saddened to hear that one of our SWISCo waste crew members passed away following this tragic incident. My condolences and thoughts are with the family, loved ones and our colleagues at this very difficult time.’

A council spokesperson added: ‘The safety and wellbeing of our teams is our highest priority, and we are fully cooperating with the authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. We ask for patience and understanding as we work through the details.’
