West Berkshire Council has introduced new electric vehicle (EV) charging points at multiple sites across the district.

The 'Evolt Charging' EV charge points have been stationed at ‘key locations’ in Newbury and Hungerford, such as Pelican Lane and Corn Exchange in the former and at the Council's Station Road Car Park in the latter.
According to the council, the scheme is intended to promote ‘cleaner and greener travel’ in the area, enabling both residents and visitors to charge their vehicles in public places with greater ease.
The council has also installed a ‘dedicated disabled electric vehicle charging bay’ at Newbury Station, which is available for use on a 24-hour basis on weekends.
Cllr Stuart Gourley, Executive Member for Environment and Highways at West Berkshire Council, said: ‘I'm so pleased to report that we are regularly adding to the public infrastructure to support our residents and visitors to make low-carbon travel and lifestyle decisions.
‘These new charge points are an important part of the collection of measures we are delivering to help address the climate and ecological emergencies in West Berkshire.’
