The Environment Day event was hosted by the council on Tuesday 15 July, with the aim of increasing awareness about environmental issues and the importance of recycling food waste.

Roughly 250 students from local schools attended the event and were given the opportunity to participate in a competition to help name one of the BioteCH4 waste trucks.

Lee Dobinson, Chief Commercial Officer at BioteCH4 said: ‘One of our fleet team picked the winning name 'The Hungry Monster' from a host of thoughtful, funny and simply bizarre suggestions!’

The event was part of the council’s Let’s Talk Rubbish programme, which involves the delivery of workshops that teach young people about the environment.

Cllr Danny Brookes, executive member for environment at Lincolnshire County Council, said: ‘This was a fantastic day that brought learning about environmental issues to life in exciting ways.’
