According to the local authority, the modern vehicles have been acquired after the service lives of older bin lorries in the council’s fleet had expired.

Following the replacement, the fleet is now comprised of nine vehicles which will deliver household waste and recycling services.

The council has confirmed that as part of its fleet replacement programme, vehicles are sold after roughly seven years and funds invested ‘back into the public purse'.

Cllr Sharon Harvey, Council Leader and Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: ‘We’re committed to ensuring people in Redditch get efficient, reliable, and resilient waste collection services.

‘Behind the familiar sight of our crews emptying bins is a vital system of planning and investment that ensures they have the right tools and vehicles to deliver a high-quality service.’
