Broxtowe Borough Council said its teams were working to clear up the discarded refuse and warned residents not to dispose of lithium batteries.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said: ‘Approximately 10 tonnes of rubbish were in the vehicle – the rubbish was emptied on to a designated space confirmed by the council for firefighters to extinguish the fire.’
