Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has issued a reminder to residents about safe electrical waste disposal following a bin lorry fire.

The fire in the collection vehicle occurred on Tuesday last week, with the council identifying a small electrical item as the cause of the blaze.
In a message shared on social media, the council confirmed that no one was injured during the incident, and no damage to the vehicle occurred.
According to the local authority, the ‘quick action’ taken by the crew and members of the Cleveland Fire Brigade team ensured the situation was handled efficiently.
The council also emphasised that residents should not throw away small electrical items in their bins.
‘Small electrical items can be taken to Dunsdale Tip for disposal or can be taken to one of the many WEEE banks located throughout the borough’, read the message.
