Emergency services were called to the scene just before 2:15pm on Monday, and the pedestrian was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

The deceased, Joginder Singh, was a respected member of the local Sikh community and served as Vice-President and a founding member of the Guru Nanak Gurdwara.

A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been released under investigation.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Leicester City Council has been contacted for comment.
