Eleven new electric vehicles (EVs) have been added to West Devon Borough Council and South Hams District Council’s shared fleet.

The councils have confirmed that the vehicles will help to deliver several services, while supporting the local authorities’ carbon reduction aims by boosting air quality and cutting emissions in the area.
According to the councils, the new vehicles will soon be operating on roads, assisting in the ‘fight against climate change’.
The move reinforces the two local authorities’ investment in ‘cleaner transport solutions’, inspired by the promising results of their 2024 EV trial.
West Devon Borough Council’s Lead Member for Climate and Biodiversity, Cllr Chris West, said: ‘The addition of electric vehicles to our fleet is a significant step towards reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices within our community.’
Cllr Nadine Dommett, Executive Member for Decarbonising the Council, added: ‘This investment is a win for the environment, for our communities, and for future generations.’
